What would happen if Queen Mary of Scotland had a chance to fall in love with a man from today?
From Drake’s first time jump he has dreamed of Mary the Queen of Scots. He has watched her grow up and seen all of the pain she has gone through. His obsession with her has dictated his life until one night he is not just a bystander in a dream.
Mary has seen her “guardian angel” since she was a child. Now he is here in a time of distress. Is he real? Will he come again?
Drake knows that the first rule of time travel is that you do not mess with the history’s timeline, but he cannot leave Mary to her fate.
Death by execution.
Skye MacKinnon shares her love of history and especially her fascination with Mary’s in Queen’s Academy: A Mary Queen of Scots Romance (Peryton Press, 978-1709471278, 2019). I immediately confess to not being familiar with Mary’s story and let me forewarn you that history is harsh. MacKinnon does not change history, but steals time from it. This is after all a book from her “Academy Of Time” series.
Time moves quickly in this novella, but the emotional intensity of Mary’s story still manages to pack a punch. I really cannot say much more other than MacKinnon has a way with making historical facts palatable even when you are crying (laugh). I will also caution you that you have to remember when reading this that women history makers become printable due to unfortunate circumstances.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
